Ybor City

A fun city with vibrant nightlife and exciting energy.

Welcome to Ybor City

Northeast of downtown Tampa is the culturally abundant city of Ybor. It is nicknamed the ‘Cigar City,’ derived from its economic success in the cigar business. Like the famous Cuban Cigar, Ybor has a strong Cuban influence. Ybor is vibrant with many unique businesses, storefronts, and historical landmarks. Ybor also offers many forms of transportation including streetcars, The Pirate Water taxi, and plenty of environmentally safe riding options. Ybor is close to both major airports in Tampa.

The city has an established urban feel, with stretches of local businesses and shops. As a historical city, locals can not only enjoy diverse restaurants and clubs but also museums along sightseeing tours.

Local Lifestyle

Inspired and influenced by its Cuban and Spanish communities, Ybor City residents can expect a lively, growing town. Residents of Ybor enjoy the Caribbean flair without needing to travel out of the states. Recognized as one of the greatest streets to visit in the nation, 7th Avenue transforms the city’s nightlife into a vibrant district. Central Ybor features pubs, grilles, and various club experiences for all types of occasions. Culturally diverse restaurants, hotels, and recreational activities are within walking distance or short drives.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Ybor is known for its great restaurant scene and variety of dining options. Whether it is a coastal restaurant or a Mexican cantina, there are many culturally inspiring cuisines to choose from. From traditional pizzerias to upscale comfort food, Ybor has a diverse menu for those looking to try something new.

7th Ave is the main street of Ybor and possibly the best main street of any suburban city. One of the amazing restaurants in the heart of the district is Due Amici Pizza & Pasta Bar, a family-owned pizzeria. Diners enjoy fresh, handmade pizzas, and other traditional Italian favorites. To tie into the nightlife of the city, the humble pizzeria closes at 3 a.m. Sitting in the same historic district is the blossoming restaurant 7th and Grove. The tavern elevates traditional southern comfort food with an abundance of freshly grown ingredients. It is an upscale restaurant in Ybor.

Off Columbus Drive, locals can visit La Segunda, a Cuban bakery providing the community with specialty breads and catering services. Those looking to enjoy one of Tampa’s top-rated barbecue spots head to Al’s Finger Licking Good Bar-B-Que on 7th Avenue.

Things To Do

The lively city of Ybor has several history museums, nearby amusement parks, and many outdoor parks and activities. Ybor also has annual events occurring throughout the city, such as the Cuban Sandwich Festival or the many parades at the Ritz.

One of the favored community events is the Gasparilla Night Parade. Ybor has been hosting Tampa’s celebrated parade since 1974. It is, quite literally, a pirate parade at night. The historic district of Ybor City features a few parks, eateries, and more. It also has streetcars stations to get around. Centennial Park is a large two-and-a-half-acre park perfect for a family outing, or a morning jog. On Saturdays, the farmers market in the Tampa area offers unique produce items and artist booths.
